WCMB-2012 will take the form of keynote lectures, oral presentations, posters, exhibitions and project matchmaking. It will cover topics from recent breakthroughs in marine biotechnology, algal biotechnology, marine natural products and valuable materials, marine bioenergy and engineering, marine resources and environment bioremediation to applications of marine biotechnology.WCMB-2012 will provide a platform for marine biotechnologists to debate on the issues affecting the progress of this emerging field, and to identify the challenges and opportunities facing the development of marine biotechnology.
On behalf of the organizing committee of WCMB-2012 I would like to welcome all the participants to this event. BIT Congress is pleased to announce that the 2nd Annual Congress of Marine Biotechnology (WCMB-2012) will be held from September 20-23, 2012 in Dalian, China, with the theme "Ocean, Inspiration, and Innovations". On behalf of the organizing committee, I cordially invite you to attend this conference, and to come ready to discuss exciting new ideas and achievements in this field.
On earth the oceans comprise the biggest part of the biosphere and also contain the most ancient and diverse forms of life. It is only with the tools of modern science that these biological resources can be studied in detail, and the things learned from them applied for human benefit and fundamental scientific progress. Reports have shown that the resources of the sea remain largely unexplored, and that marine organisms represent a vast untapped resource with potential benefits in many areas including: medicine, aquaculture, fisheries, industry, research, and environmental protection and restoration.
